Deed to house: From this deed we can see that Robert Bridges purchased a house for James Forten on November 13, 1792. He paid 250 pounds of Pennsylvania money to Emanual and Barbara Priest for a two story brick house and a lot on the south side of Shippen Street near George Street in Southwark. Margaret ran James Forten's household for him and lived in the house from the time of purchase until her death.
